Wilmot Gateway Park, Woodinville

JGM worked closely with the community, city and county officials to develop the Master Plan and design for this unique park. The 3.8 acre site borders the Sammamish River Trail, also designed by JGM. Woodinville’s first park serves as a community gateway and gathering place along the river. The design created a gentle sloping lawn that established visual and physical access to the river. The amphitheater-like park facilitates gatherings, play space, access to the water’s edge and increased water storage in times of flooding. The existing trail was realigned to conform with the grading changes.

A gracefully curving picnic pergola echoes the arc of the realigned trail. The pergola is punctuated by three gateways and one restroom structure. Display gardens and a vine collection create a unique ‘green gateway’ for Woodinville.

David McNeal, FASLA served as project manager and lead master planner. Craig Lewis, ASLA, was the project landscape architect and the scope included community involvement, master planning, design, construction documents and construction phase services. JGM also developed graphic displays to support the community fund raising campaign.
