JGM prepared the original Cedar River Greenway Master Plan in 1988. The plan inventoried and analyzed existing park lands/facilities, access, linkages with community, natural systems and potential acquisitions. The City of Renton implemented the plan’s priority projects and acquisitions and selected JGM to design active sports facilities, passive and interpretive parks and trail linkages.

With the recent advent of major modifications to Interstate 405, the City asked JGM to work with WSDOT in an interactive design workshop to identify potential design solutions and impact mitigation strategies for the Greenway which took place in the summer of 2005.

Late in 2005, JGM was chosen to prepare the Cedar River Greenway Master Plan Update. As part of the scope of work, JGM explored modifications to the park lands directly impacted by the I-405 Project; reviewing, identifying and proposing strategies and solutions to future acquisitions; addressing safety concerns, recreational needs and circulation; and analyzing the condition of existing recreational facilities as well as proposing new facilities. Throughout the master planning process, JGM worked with city staff and the community in a series of interactive workshops.
